"Peace, Be Still" | Gonam Raju

It's at the precipice of danger that we often hear His words, "Peace, Be Still"

Peace:

  • Shalom
  • Shanti
  • Salaam

The biblical meaning of peace, transcends mere absence of conflict; it embodies a sense of wholeness, harmony and spiritual well-being.

The peace God gives is ever-present.

Numbers 6:24-26 “‘The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

  • vs 27 “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

Isaiah 9:6  "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Psalm 46: 1-2, 10  God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Before the Storm:

  • John 14:27  "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
  • We need to be prepared - prepare your vessels, your houses
  • Don't wait until it's too late!

During the Storm:

  • Mark 4:39 NKJV  "Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm."
  • Jesus speaks IN the Storm
  • Jesus rebukes the wind and calms the waves

After the Storm:

  • John 20:19   "On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
  • Philippians 4:7  "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Psalm 30:5 NKJV  "For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning."
