Palm Sunday - "From Death to Life"

Pastor Boniface Mgonja - Sunday, March 24th, 2024 - Bethel Pentecostal Church, Barrhead, Alberta, Canada

John 11: 17-26 (NKJV)

17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about [a]two miles away. 19 And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. 21 Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

*Do YOU BELIEVE this!?*

Context: What do I see?

  • Do I think Jesus is too late to fulfill His promise to me?
  • Is it possible for Jesus to be "too late"??
  • Jesus is Always right on time!

Context: What does Jesus see?

  • Does Jesus see '"the storm, "death," "old age," "too late"...??

“You don’t have to wait for the End. I am, right now, Resurrection and Life. "... -John 11:25-26 (The Message)

Context: Reflection of Who He is

  • "I am the Resurrection and the Life"
  • Application: Not I will be...someday in the future...no...NOW... He is NOW the resurrection and the Life!

Yes, you might see the circumstances differently (from your limited, human perspective) #butGod... He can do ALL things!  Nothing is too hard for Him!

It doesn't matter what things have been dying in your life... He can turn those things around and bring LIFE!

Application: **Do you Believe this?

  • Faith makes all the difference!
  • Choose to confess: "yes, Lord, I believe!"

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone, my hope is foundHe is my light, my strength, my songThis Cornerstone, this solid groundFirm through the fiercest drought and stormWhat heights of love, what depths of peaceWhen fears are stilled, when strivings ceaseMy Comforter, my All in AllHere in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on fleshFullness of God in helpless babeThis gift of love and righteousnessScorned by the ones He came to save'Til on that cross as Jesus diedThe wrath of God was satisfiedFor every sin on Him was laidHere in the death of Christ I live, I live
There in the ground His body layLight of the world by darkness slainThen bursting forth in glorious DayUp from the grave He rose againAnd as He stands in victorySin's curse has lost its grip on meFor I am His and He is mineBought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in deathThis is the power of Christ in meFrom life's first cry to final breathJesus commands my destinyNo power of hell, no scheme of manCan ever pluck me from His handTill He returns or calls me homeHere in the power of Christ I'll stand
