"Pursuit 2.0" - Tanny Kellert

He continues to pursue us and longs to have a relationship with us.  He is worthy of our praise and adoration.

What happens when we pursue God?

  • Everything Changes!!
  • As with Jacob, we must grab a hold of God and not let go until He changes us.
  • Genesis 32:22-32  "That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. 24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”

    But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

    27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”“Jacob,” he answered.

    28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

    29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”

    But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there.

    30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

    31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon."

Acts 4:13  "When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus."

What is your testimony of how Jesus encountered and changed your life?

  • Testimonies can be prophetic - "if it happened for them, it can happen for me!"

Ephesians 4:21-24 "when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

  • Reject any lies or thoughts that are impure, unholy - take your thoughts captive!

Forget the past and look forward to what lies ahead.

  • We were made for more!
  • Seek Him, Ask Him for dreams and visions
  • We are chosen by God

1 Peter 2:9  "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."

*Begin to see things through God's perspective instead of your own! (God, show me how you see this person/situation)

God always has a plan!  He is a God of prior provision.  He is a master weaver of details.

Choose to partner with God - ask Him: "How can I bring you glory in this situation?"  (Show me your heavenly perspective)

  • Isaiah 55: 8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
        neither are your ways my ways,”
    declares the Lord.
    9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
        so are my ways higher than your ways
        and my thoughts than your thoughts."
  • Luke 1:38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her."
  • Ephesians 2:10  "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

When we have encounters with God, the way we love others changes!

We serve a God of Love - He has put us all into a sphere of influence.  God wants us to love those people within our sphere of influence, even the hard ones.  "God, who do you want me to reach?"

Let's turn Barrhead upside-down for the glory of God!
