Nation to Nation - Hope that changes lives

Book: "Two Tears on the Window" by Kevin and Julia Garratt spent 2 years in prison in China

  • falsely accused and charged with espionage
  • 6 months in isolation
  • Genesis 50:20  "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."
  • God gave him the opportunity to share the gospel while in prison!  He didn't push anything, just prayed and asked questions...

1 Peter 3:15  "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,"

Now a Missionary on the Myanmar/Thailand border...

  • God's calling on our lives doesn't end
  • Matthew 9:36  "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."
  • Splagchnizomai (σπλαγχνίζομαι) - Greek for Compassion that leads to action.

What is our Response?

1. Prepare our hearts...

  • worship (10-10-10)
  • training, looking at the word

2. Learn God's Word

3. Prepare to Share

  • 1 Peter 3:5  "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,"
  • Spiritual formation and readiness
  • Soap products and hygiene kits
  • share with migrant children
  • work with 1,000 kids per week
  • *Pray for all the children, teachers and the school!

Hope in the Hardest Places

  • Psalm 34:17-18 "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
  • 1 Corinthians 2:9  "However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”—the things God has prepared for those who love him"
  • Matthew 9:36  "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."
