Acts 1:4-8  “On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command:  “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” 6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 2:1-4  “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

Acts 2:42-47  They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

Life giving community

Spiritual

  • Training - vs 42 - the teaching and reading of God’s word
  • Meeting Daily - Ephesians 4:16

Physical

  • They shared what they had

Emotional

  • The people had good attitudes
  • No longer living in fear (emotionally healthy)

Missional

  • Adding to their numbers daily

The church needs to love people - love one another!

We need to tell others about Jesus, invite them to church and church activites.

“There can be no maturity in the spiritual life, no obedience in following Jesus, no wholeness in the Christian Life, apart from an immersion in and embrace of community. I am not myself by myself.” -Eugene Peterson
