Nehemiah 5:1-13
What is the right response when your own people are opposing you? What do you do when opposition comes from the inside?
1. The Inside Problem -the problem inside of us - how we feel/act. Offense is just another tool to get closer to some you love - Go to them to work it out.
2. What is the Response?
- Deal with the anger.
- Self-control - demonstrate God's love flowing through you.
- What is Biblical? What is right? Forgiveness and love.
- Nehemiah 5:16 & 19 - "I devoted myself to work on this wall." "Remember me with favor, my God, for all I ahve done for these people."
Be on guard for yourself.
How come selfish people are so unhappy? Because we excluded God... But we as Christians should be known for our joy.
*"Self-control is a virtue that leaders can't afford to be without!"
What is the Biblical response to opposition? Forgiveness and love.
3. What about the response from others? You can't control what others do - God will only judge you based on your response. ("My response is my responsibility").
- The Lord is righteous and just with or without you.
